Borussia Dortmund ease past HEBC as Samuele Inacio scores twice

Borussia Dortmund started the DFB Cup with a 5-0 win over HEBC, and Samuele Inacio was the clear standout. He scored twice before half-time, in the 41st minute and the 45+2 minute, after Dortmund had already gone ahead through Janek Wrede’s own goal in the 33rd minute. A side with seven changes from the Bundesliga opener still looked in full control.

Inacio's first-half burst

Inacio came into this game with one season goal, then doubled his Dortmund tally in a few minutes before the break. His first goal arrived in the 41st minute, and his second followed in first-half stoppage time. That turned what had been a decent start into a match that was effectively over by half-time.

Dortmund's attacking edge showed in the xG numbers too. They finished with 3.63 expected goals, while HEBC managed only 0.03. That gap fitted the scoreline, but it also reflected how little room the fifth-tier side had to settle into the game.

Rotation did not blunt Dortmund

Niko Kovač made seven changes to the starting eleven after the Bundesliga opener, yet the team never looked disjointed. Julian Ryerson and Marcel Sabitzer were among the names in a rotated setup that still pushed HEBC back for long stretches.

The other goals arrived after Inacio had already done the damage. Joey Veerman made his full debut and assisted Fabio Silva’s 59th-minute goal, while Hammed Nawaz collected the only card of the match in the 72nd minute. By then the contest had long been settled, and Dortmund finished the job without any alarms.
